Wage Policy

Our members should have a wage level which reflects their expertise, competence, responsibilities and efforts. NAR strives to ensure that our members' wages are competitive, both nationally and internationally.

This is a prerequisite for the research and knowledge sector to be an attractive career path, able to recruit, develop and retain the best qualifiedand motivated knowledge workers in competition with alternative career opportunities.

It is fundamental to our wage policy that competence should pay off.

The overall objective of our wage policy is to achieve higher wages and better working conditions for our members. The wage conditions for our members should be improved through fully taking advantage of the possibilities within the current wage and bargaining systems, in all sectors.

NAR's wage policy is based on these three elements:

  • A general pay rise for all employees.
  • Pay rise for groups of employees.
  • Individual pay rise based on a mutually agreed local wage policy.

Read more about our wage policy in our Work Program 2022–2024 (pdf).

We also have a separate wage policy document 2020–2022 (so far only available in Norwegian).
