Benefits for Members

The main purpose of the Norwegian Association of Researchers (NAR) is to improve working conditions in research and higher education and to protect members' financial and professional interests.

  • NAR represents its members in all kinds of salary negotiations.
  • NAR’s members can get free legal aid in matters regarding their salaries and working conditions.
  • NAR offers various courses, conferences and seminars, free of charge for members.
  • NAR’s members are offered competitively priced insurance and banking services.
  • NAR issues the monthly journal Forskerforum, which is distributed free of charge to all members 10 times a year.

Membership Fees

For 2012, NAR's membership fees are:

  • Ordinary fee: NOK 352 a month (those employed in a full time position).
  • Reduced fee: NOK 193 a month (those employed half time or less, and doctoral candidates).
  • Fee for double membership: NOK 852 a year.
  • Students and other non-employed members: NOK 444 a year.
